One of our most popular equine fixture is the brass and wood saddle rack. This product has been used for a couple seasons now at Ralph Lauren’s Polo store in Singapore along with multiple high end barns here in the US. If you are looking for a saddle rack with a tack hook, take a look at the Chrome Saddle Rack. Any combination of our products that add up to $75 upon checkout quality for complimentary shipping – even heavy items for your tack room.

Brass Fixtures Are A bit More Economical

They are made of solid brass with a lacquer finish. These fancy bridle hooks are a little less expensive than our chrome bridle hooks because chrome requires an additional process – taking these brass racks and adding chrome at the factory.

Brand New Oakbark Color Shown Pre-Oiled

Polyamide Tree with Steel Head Iron

Controlled flexibility without the torque

All Amerigo Vega saddles are built on an injection molded tree made of polyamide-imides: high-performance polymers known for their incredible strength and relatively low weight. Paired with a steelhead, the tree of the Amerigo Vega Monoflap Cross Country Saddle provides controlled flexibility while eliminating torque. Synthetic saddle trees should not be narrowed or spread more than 1 cm.

Wool Flocked Independent Swiss Panels

Greater freedom of movement

The panels of Amerigo Vega saddles are wool flocked, allowing for minor adjustments to how the panels fit to the horses back. Independent Swiss panels are non-gusseted with a wool liner. The panels of a saddle are on the underside, the “tubes” of flocking that sit on the horses back. An independent panel is not sewn directly to the sweat flap of the saddle. This more advanced design allows the horse greater freedom of movement by providing more consistent contact over the horses back.

Improved Rider Position

Effortless shoulder, hip, heel alignment

Improved rider position carried over from the original Amerigo line of saddles. Amerigo saddles are designed to position the rider’s weight forward on the horse’s back, over the horse’s center of balance. The outcome of this design relieves the horse of weight on his last rib, a key metric in saddle fit and design. With pressure relieved, the horse is free to move naturally – increasing comfort and therefore performance. The rider’s position is also enhanced, getting him off his pockets and into a more balanced and secure position that promotes an independent seat. The monoflap design reduces bulk under the leg, allowing the rider a close contact feel for a more independent leg.

Manufacturing, Leather, and Care

The Amerigo Vega Monoflap Cross Country Saddle is made of calfskin. The manufacturing is conducted by Selleria Equipe in Italy. Due to the environmentally friendly vegetable tanned process, Amerigo leather cannot be cleaned using products that contain alcohol. To maintain the warranty, use only Amerigo Leather Cleaning products.

2 Ring Elevator Bit with Copper Lozenge

2 ring gag bit

2 Ring Elevator Bit

2 Ring Elevator Bit by Shires Equestrian provides half-halt without half-halting your wallet. This two ring elevator bit is much less expensive than German models. Elevator bits supply leverage that is often needed by three day eventers. Gag bits for horses typically come in two models: the two ring gag and the three ring gag. This model is called a 2 ring elevator bit because there are two places to attach your reins. You can put them on the main ring (making it a gag snaffle bit), or on the bottom ring, which will give you the leverage that defines this type of gag bit. The 2 ring gag bit is not nearly as severe and does not provide as much leverage as the 3 ring model, which is typically used only on very strong horses. This model is equipped with a copper lozenge.

  • A typical 2 ring elevator bit you see on cross country or in stadium
    • The cheeks on this bit are not dressage legal
  • Stainless steel with copper lozenge
  • 2 ring gag, not a 3 ring gag – semantics!
  • Also known as a Dutch gag bit

2 ring elevator bit

Copper is used to encourage the horse to salivate

2 Ring with Copper Lozenge Gag

This particular gag bit is not a “true” gag bit (which actually lifts the horse’s head), but rather a Dutch gag that creates the opposite effect by use of leverage. These gag bits work on the lips and poll simultaneously and this Shires 2 ring elevator bit provides you with two different options to increase or decrease its strength. When the reins are attached to the lower ring, more leverage will be applied at the horse’s poll. This type of bit can increase lightness, flexion, and control when used correctly. These bits are especially popular with jumpers and eventers. However, gag bits can be very severe if used improperly so consult your trainer if you’re not sure if this bit is right for you.

French Link Loose Ring Training Snaffle made of German Silver

loose ring training snaffle

Loose Ring Training Snaffle

Loose Ring Training Snaffle made of German Silver, an alloy comprised of  60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc. The round link between the two arms of the bit produce no nutcracker action, making the 18mm version of this bit a more gentle bit compared to a standard snaffle. The mouthpiece of the 14mm loose ring training snaffle is slightly more narrow, making it slightly more severe on the horse’s mouth. A loose ring snaffle is the most common bit you will find because it provides direct pressure without leverage. Pressure from the rider’s aids flows directly from the rein to the horses tongue and the edges of its mouth.

  • Loose ring French link
  • Made of German Silver
  • No nutcracker action
  • Individually inspected for quality
  • 2 widths – both USEF dressage legal (based on 10mm rule)

loose ring training snaffle

Loose Ring Snaffle

Loose ring snaffles are considered by some to be the most basic of English riding bits. Many trainers choose to start / back horses using this type of bit. The ring shaped cheek pieces attach to the bit “loosely”, running through drilled out holes. This allows the mouthpiece (aka bit) to move freely, regardless of what the rings are doing. This makes independent tongue and jaw movement possible even when there is pressure on the bit from the reins.

Other Types of Snaffle Rings

A snaffle by definition is a non leverage bit that applies direct pressure to the horses mouth. A snaffle may or may not have a jointed moutpiece, and a bit with a jointed mouthpiece is not necessarily a snaffle. Other types of snaffle rings include:

  • Loose ring. The ring allows the mouthpiece to freely slip around and rotate, encouraging the horse to relax his jaw, chew the bit, and make foamy saliva. Pinching may occur if the holes are large.
  • Egg butt or barrel head bit. An extended joint of the eggbutt bit prevents pinching of the lips. Eggbutt snaffle or barrelhead bits are more stable in the mouth and rotate less freely than loose ring bits.
  • Dee ring or racing bit. Dee ring bits have a joint that extends to upper ends of the “dee”. This bit typically doesn’t pinch the horses mouth. The large d sides have a guiding effect when used for turns.

Benefits of German Silver

German silver is an alloy of copper, nickel and zinc. The combination of materials is highly corrosion resistant and easy to clean. For the horse, the taste of a German Silver bit and other alloys similar to German Silver such as copper, manganese and zinc or silicon have been seen to positively influence the horses satisfaction in terms of taste resulting in the production of saliva, reducing muscle tension and stress.  Your loose ring training snaffle with German Silver will outperform a simple stainless steel model and will last longer.

What Makes These Reins For Eventing?

Don’t get us wrong, you can use any reins you want for dressage, show jumping and cross country. We are positioning these Vespucci Rubber Reins as cross-country reins because of how long the leather is (over 16 inches). With that much leather, you can tie a single or even double safety knot. Why do you even need a safety knot? Many riders like to have a knot tied at the end of their reins to aid in holding or recovering reins on cross-country – especially after slipping them down a bank.

Eventing Reins

These reins have enough leather for one or two safety knots

Caring for Vespucci Leather

When you first receive your new Vespucci rubber reins for eventing, use a light coat of Amerigo Soft Oil before initial use and whenever the leather feels dry. For regular cleaning, use Amerigo Soft Clean. Avoid over oiling your eventing reins. Be sure to untie your safety knot after done using the reins. It will help you keep them clean and will avoid stress to the leather.

Vespucci rubber reins are imported and distributed by World Equestrian Brands, a US-based company that helps support US Eventing through sponsorships, promotion of the sport and various donations to eventing specific charities. Thus, we’re proud to offer their high-quality products.

Measurements

Overall length = 60 inches. The leather (where you can tie a safety knot) is 16″. For additional measurements, click on the tab to the top right for all the measurements related to these eventing reins.

PEI Air Cooled BL1 Eventing Boots CLEARANCE!

PEI BL1 Cross Country Boots all colors

PEI Air Cooled BL1 Eventing Boots

PEI Air Cooled BL1 Eventing Boots are similar to the original PEI eventing boots but are completely wrapped in a microfiber leather. The BL1 PEI Boots microfiber leather is designed to last longer and be lighter weight than the ballistic nylon that is used on the original PEI eventing boots. The microfiber leather stretches and molds to your horses legs while retaining its originally designed shape. These PEI eventing boots are 52 grams lighter per pair and offer a bit more protection than the originals. Materials provide solid brushing protection against studs. Cleanup is easy, simply throw them in the washing machine (or under the hose) and let them hang to dry.

If you want a pair of white cross country boots, these clean up very easy due to the microfiber leather.

  • Improved shape: forms to the leg and around fetlock without impeding movement
  • Polycarbonate strike guard, double stitched so it won’t move, non restrictive (located on back of front boots, on front of hind boots). Strike guard is guaranteed for life.
  • Air cooled via 6 areas around tendons on both inside & outside of boot
  • Do not suck up water, won’t get heavy
  • Lightweight, FLEXIBLE – not like the competition’s similar looking boot
  • EVA foam lining, this is NOT neoprene and is super soft
  • Wrapped in microfiber leather
  • Super lightweight – even lighter than the Original PEI Eventing Boots

Weight

PEI BL1 Pro Eventing Boots weigh slightly less (52 grams) than the PEI Original Eventing Boots. The following weights are for the LARGE size (all other sizes weigh less)

Full set: 970 Grams (34.2 oz)

  • Fronts: 209 grams / boot (418 grams set of fronts, size large)
  • Hinds: 276 grams / boot (552 grams set of hinds, size large)

The PEI Originals size large weigh in 1022 Grams (36 oz) for a full set.

Sizing Guidelines

As sizes increase, so does the circumference of the boot. We have found the biggest challenges with fitting the PEi Xc boots on “fine boned” horses. They end up fitting in height, but not in width. A gap vs. overlap is your personal preference – we have asked many trainers and have received all different answers. Also, overlapping or below the chestnut, that depends on your preference. The more coverage the better as long as there isn’t interference in the horse’s movement. The hind boots fit HIGH up the inside of the leg – that’s by design.

X-Small (available in PEi Originals Only) 7.5 inches tall (front),  9 inches tall (hind).

Small = 14.0hh – 14.3hh. 9.5 inches tall (front), 11.75 inches tall (hind)

Medium = 15hh – 16.2hh. 9.75 inches tall (front), 14.25 inches tall (hind)

Large = 16.3hh – 17.3hh. 10 inches tall (front),  15 inches tall (hind)

Amerigo Aluminum Stirrups with Wide Footbed

amerigo aluminum stirrups

Amerigo Aluminum Stirrups

Amerigo aluminum stirrups are equipped with a wide, aluminum footbed. These stirrups provide excellent grip in all conditions, including wet weather. They also work perfectly for all types of boots. The hole for the leathers is at a tilted 30-degree angle. This angle allows the stirrup to hang from the saddle in a correct position when compared to traditional stirrup irons. A correctly positioned stirrup is more comfortable to use, safer in the event of an emergency dismount and easier to retain. 2 pieces of aluminum make up Amerigo stirrups. Two thick bolts hold the bottom to the body.

  • Wide, aluminum footbed similar to many of the MDC stirrups
  • Great grip in all conditions, for all types of boots
  • 30-degree angle in stirrup leather hole provides a correct stirrup position
  • 10-ounce total weight per stirrup
  • 4.5 inches from side to side, 2.5 inches front to back
  • Made in Italy, with love
  • Nearly identical to the Jin Stirrups that are also made in Italy

Amerigo stirrups are available in three body colors: silver, gold, and black. Regardless of the body color, Amerigo stirrups come with a black footbed. The color is pretty durable. Scratches will occur but with basic care, they will look good for years.
