Synthetics Are Great, Natural Sheepskin is Best

Sheepskin half pads have many benefits over even modern performance fabrics. Sheepskin is the best at moisture and heat dissipation. When your horses back heats up and it begins to sweat, a sheepskin half pad will naturally remove that sweat and excess heat. Or in a cold environment, a sheepskin half pad will warm up enough to maintain a comfortable temperature for your horse – great for cold backs. Unlike its synthetic counterparts, natural wool pads are hypoallergenic. They’re resistant to bacteria buildup and molding. All of this is possible due to the natural properties of wool / sheepskins. The fibers of a half pad made of wool or sheepskin create a lining of still air – little pockets of dry air that sit on the top of your horses back. The pockets allow for evaporation of excess sweat. The evaporation draws away excess body heat, cooling better than anything made in a lab.
