Running Martingales

A running martingale can be an important piece of training equipment for horses. A bit becomes less effective if a horse raises its head too far. A martingale, running or standing, prevents this. The running martingale works by applying downward pressure on the bit when a horse raises its head. This encourages the horse to drop the head, therefore, allowing improved control.
