Product Description
Hit Air Advantage Airbag Vest
The Hit Air Advantage airbag vest provides neck and body protection for the three-day Eventer. The new Hit Air Advantage equestrian air vest is a culmination of more than a decade of experience in airbag technology by Mugen Denko, LTD. a Japanese company that started making airbag vests for motorcycle riders. They adapted their technology for use by equestrians, producing an airbag vest that protects your neck, spine, internal organs (like your heart, sorta important) and pelvis/hips.
- Air vest deploys in .09 seconds, starting with your neck first (fastest in the industry)
- Airbag inflates behind CO2 canister, pushing it away from body – more comfortable than the competition’s version
- Large neck airbag keeps head vertical, fully supporting neck – this feature was a flow-through from their original motorcycle models
- Hip/pelvis protection
Package includes:Â
- Equestrian Airbag Vest
- One C02 cartridge (we suggest you have one in the vest and 2 in reserve)
- Cartridge removal / reset tool
- Cord that connects to saddle strap (does not include saddle strap itself)
- Owner’s manual with warranty information
As an Eventer, using an Equestrian Air Vest such as the Hit Air Advantage Airbag Vest on cross country can mean the difference between life and death
In the event of a fall, an equestrian air vest such as the hit air advantage airbag vest provides a shock-buffering system that’s activated instantly (about .15 seconds for Hit Air brand air vests). An airbag powered by Co2 gas is activated when the rider’s distance from the saddle exceeds the “activation distance”. Co2 flows instantly into neck, chest, back and hip airbags to inflate them and absorb the impact on the rider’s body.
Sizing your new Hit Air Advantage Airbag Vest
Hit Air vests have a specific design so that they adjust to fit a range of different body sizes. Use the chart below to find where you fit then use the drop-down menu above to find the range.  For example: if you’re a 5’5″, 100cm chest, 31″ waist, you are a Medium. From The drop down, you would select “From Small to XL”. If only your chest or waist size moves you out of a range, you will want to go with the range that matches the rest of the measurements and purchase a separate sizing accessory called a Hit Buckle Extender.
NOTE: some sizes are not available in some colors. Be sure to choose the correct size, not the color.
The size of air canister your vest takes depends on the size range:
- Small range from 2XS to Small and use 50cc cartridges
- Medium range from Small to XL and use 50cc cartridges
- Large range from XL to 3XL and use a 60cc cartridge
- Extra large range from 3XL to 5XL and use a 60cc cartridge
Your vest will come with a single cartridge so it’s a good idea to buy a few more.
A decade of Air Vest technology
The neck airbag, where most injuries occur, inflates first, followed by (in only a fraction of a millisecond) the torso and hip airbags. The neck airbag on the Hit Air Advantage Airbag Vest is also significantly larger than the leading competitor’s neck airbag. The key box where the CO2 cartridge is deployed is protected from dust and dirt and provides audio insulation to minimize spooking the horse during an unintended deployment.
Comfortable and Cool Equestrian Airbag
These are considered a more comfortable equestrian airbag because the hip airbags are concealed inside a special pocket making it unnecessary to have a long “duck-tailed” style that can be uncomfortable in the saddle. Hit Air vest equestrian styles are cool to wear because of the open design, allowing ample air flow.
