Product Description
Kentucky Armadillo Aero Elastic Open Front Boots
Kentucky Armadillo Aero elastic tendon and fetlock boots feature double elastic straps with plastic tabs that connect to brass studs on the boot. This is the more traditional connection, similar to the Boyd Martin Open Front Boots. The open front boots feature a tough outer TPU shell that’s extremely light yet strong enough to protect against impact. A middle layer of protection is filled with shock absorbing D30, a material used in ballistic vests, motocross protective gear and other protective products that are required to disperse energy that would otherwise break bones. The last layer of protection is made of neoprene and molds against the horse’s leg. The neoprene lining is perforated, making the boots breathable while offering soft cushioning.
- Tab Closure
- Elastic across front of boot
- Three layers of impact protection:
- Strong, lightweight TPU outer shell protects tendons, fetlock and joints
- High impact / energy absorbing D30 material used as a middle layer of protection on both fronts and hinds
- Memory foam internal lining on both fetlock and hind tendon boots
- Pretty fashionable, high tech looking. Designed with help of international German show-jumper Lars Nieberg
The Fit and Protection of Kentucky Armadillo Aero Elastic Boots
The tendon boots feature a high cut than most other open front tendon boots. This high cut allows for increased freedom of movement around the pastern area which is useful for the mechanics of a jumping horse.
Kentucky Armadillo Aero show jumping boots feature a hard outer TPU shell with a middle layer of D30 impact absorbing gel that gives the hind fetlock joint additional protection from injuries caused by the horse as it leaves the ground. Both the Aero tendon and Aero fetlock feature this added joint protection.
What Is D30 And Why Is It In My Kentucky Armadillo Aero Boots?!
D30 is a protective material that was developed by UK company, D30 Labs. It’s a material that reacts to impacts, offering shock absorption thats soft and flexible yet durable. The material can be melted and injected into TPU molds like what the Kentucky Horseware does for the Kentucky Armadillo Aero boots or can come in a mesh that can be woven into clothing.
