Product Description
Amerigo Short Girth
Amerigo short girth with elastic insets can be a great choice for those saddles with long billets. Use it on cross country, during your stadium round or on your dressage saddle. This is a very versatile short girth. Be sure to order your Amerigo girth 1 size larger than usual. The elastic on this girth is designed to add support around the elbows (where the girth is contoured) but does not provide stretch. This girth does not “stretch” any more than leather stretches naturally.
- Roller buckles, slightly offset for standard or V-billeting systems
- Anatomic girth provides extra elbow room
- Contour reduces chance of rubbing at elbow
- Martingale loop in the middle, leather keepers on the sides
- Elastic insets for support of leather, not for stretch
- Italian leather, lined with calfskin padding
African Grey Parrot Not Included
Roller Buckles
Roller buckles on girths help with tightening. These particular roller buckles are slightly off-set for saddles with “V”-billeting systems. At the base of the roller buckles are keepers to tuck billet straps in.
Amerigo Girth Material
Amerigo short girths are made in India of high quality Italian leather. The elastic on the shaped girth is more for looks but helps with keep the shape of the skinny “contoured” areas around the elbows. Amerigo / World Equestrian Brands suggests using the Amerigo Leather Care line of products to protect and clean your new anatomical girth.
Sizing & Fit
The Amerigo short girth is shorter and narrower than you might think. It runs small so you’re better off getting one size up. We hear it all the time at events… “I need a girth that won’t rub behind  the elbows”. Some riders find that the Amerigo Special Girth will do the trick – after all… It’s a really expensive girth. We can’t say it will work for your horse – about 70% of those who use it find it to work well. For those who can’t seem to get the Amerigo to fit right, we suggest the Christ Lammfelle Sheepskin Dressage Girth.
Otherwise Known As…
The Amerigo Short Girth is also known by the manufacturing company as the Amerigo Special Short Girth with Elastic Insets – it’s the same girth, we just shortened the name.
