Christ Lammfelle Half Pad
This Christ Lammfelle half pad boasts a 100% lambskin base with 30mm (1.18 inches) of unbleached wool. Where the horse’s spine connects with the half pad, the wool parts for an optimal fit. The top of the pad consists of  Christ Lammfelle special saddle cloth fabric that prevents the pad from bunching up.
- Machine washable with a lambskin detergent
- Dryer safe on low/tumble or hang to dry (preferred)
- Made in Germany
- Available in Pony size!

- Quality twill (cotton backing) won’t bunch up half Pad With Standard Edge (no frills / no edge)
Christ Lammfelle designs and crafts their Half Pad with Standard Edge using medical lambskin and hardwearing twill (cotton). All Christ Lammfelle saddle pads come from Germany. They never bleach their wool used on the Christ saddle pads and the entire Christ saddle pad can be thrown in the washing machine on gentle cycle, then dried on low in the dryer – try that with your Chinese made fleece saddle pad and you will find yourself having to buy a new one!
- High-quality sheepskin half pad
- Standard edge means no frills, you can’t see the sheepskin when on the horse
- Washer safe using MELP or similar wool cleaner
This Christ Lammfelle half pad is designed to sit directly on your horses back – no need for another pad if your saddle has the appropriate sweat flap. We suggest you use a lightweight pad on the top of this half pad if your saddle does not have a sweat flap or fits in a way that a second pad on the top of this Christ saddle pad would make sense.
When it comes to quality, Christ lambskin saddle pads are the best eventing saddle pads.

Love this pad. I use it between a standard dressage pad and my saddle on one of my horses, and it makes a “barely acceptable” saddle fit into an absolutely fine one. I haven’t had to wash it, since it is layered and kept clean, but the friend who recommended it to me says that it is easy to wash and holds up well. I am thrilled to be able to use this saddle on this particular horse, and we are both happy.

I had purchased 3 pads b4 this one and none of them were correct in size or fit. The lammfelle half pad is finally the correct fit. It also looks luxurious under the saddle.

I have 2 Christ 1/2 pads. I is a daily rider and all I have to do is brush it out with a stiff “water” brush. After a couple of months of daily riding I will take a dog-grooming wire brush to it and it fluffs back up for me. I have seen the Mattes pads that others have and the fleece seems to be sewn into the backing somehow. They are not as dense as the Christ pads. My sensitive, deva, horse definitely prefers the pad next to her skin so It gets very dirty every day and still keeps on tickin’. My one concern is that they say it is washable ( and I have washed mine) but I found a tear in it last month and when I sewed it back up I noticed that there was a skin back. I wonder if it gets brittle with age or washings.

I have bought 2 of the standard edge pads. I keep 1 for showing and 1 for daily use. My horse prefers the pad to be next to her skin so it gets very dirty. I simply brush it out with a stiff brush, in circular motions, before every ride and the salt just sweeps away. It maintains its thickness throughout all those brushings. I wash it about every 2 months with Melp cleaner in my washing machine. I AIR dry it in my dryer and it comes out so fluffy it looks brand new. Because these pads have a skin back, if my pad gets too compressed between washings I use a dog grooming brush on it and it fluffs right back up. I don’t think you could do that with the Mattes, sewn-in pads.

These are the best fleece half-pads made. They are extremely thick and the fleece stays lofty and thick. A simple brushing with a stiff brush cleans and fluffs it right up. I like not having a rear fleece rim because my dressage saddle is long. My horse must have hers next to her skin so mine gets used a lot and the fleece has not fallen out anywhere. Apparently it has a skin back so it is not the sewn fleece like some other pads.
