Product Description
Double Bridle or Weymouth
KL Select makes this Double Bridle or Red Barn Arena Ergonomic Weymouth bridle. The Arena Ergonomic Weymouth bridle is created from the finest J.E. Sedgwick and Co. Ltd leather from England. Therefore, the dressage bridle is supple and durable. The Red Barn Arena Ergonomic Weymouth Bridle has a unique and ergonomic design. As a result, it has increased comfort for the horse. The noseband fits the horse’s anatomy. It alleviates pressure off of the main facial nerve and is 1 1/2 inches across the front of the nose, between the flash strap, and narrows to 1/2″ on the sides. The softly padded, wider crownpiece evenly distributes pressure across the poll. The Weymouth bridle has a padded round-raised leather browband and matching 1/2 inch cheekpieces. The hardware is stainless steel with hook stud ends. The adjustable noseband has a roller buckle.

Are You Ready for a Double Bridle?
A double or Weymouth bridle uses two bits; the double bridle bits are the Bradoon bit or snaffle and the Weymouth bit or curb. Using the bridle correctly improves collection and self-carriage and therefore refines and finesses communication between rider and horse. However, when used to soon this bridle can cause anxiety, mouth problems, and irreparable damage to the horse. The article “Are You Ready for a Double Bridle?” in Dressage Today reviews important factors to consider before making the transition. Most importantly, always consult with an experienced trainer or USDF Certified Instructor before introducing this type of bridle for the first time.
