Product Description
Custom Wool Coolers
Custom wool cooler with personalized colors made in the USA. Coolers are designed to safely cool down your horses body after a ride in cold weather. This wool cooler is the absolute best available. The wool used is responsibly sourced, 21 oz, 85/15 blend (85% wool, 15% nylon) by Woolrich, a family owned US company that’s been making wool products since 1830. Wool blends are breathable and wick moisture away. Wool is preferable over other materials for horse coolers because it retains warmth while removing moisture. Many fleece coolers will get soaked with sweat and cool the horse down too fast. Wool is the traditional material used for horse coolers.
This item is custom made. Please allow some time to get it put together, especially if you opt for custom embroidery.

Sizing:
Sizing is not as specific as your horses rug. We offer a range for sizing based on the specific size of the cooler. When selecting a size range, try to match your rug size to the middle of the cooler sizing range. For example, if your horse wears a size 75in (191cm) Titan Trio horse blanket, select the 72in-76in cooler size range. Here is a list of the actual cooler sizes and their rough equivalent blanket / rug sizes:
72×78 actual cooler size = 62in-64in blanket size range
78×84 actual cooler size = 66-70
84×90 = 72-76
90×96 = 78-84
96×102 = 84+
If you’re between sizes, go up.
What Makes A Good Cooler?
The objective of a cooler is to keep your horse warm while drying him off after a hard ride. In the winter months, turning out a wet horse subjects him to possible illness, sore muscles and just a miserable existence. Putting a regular blanket over a wet horse doesn’t help, either. You should use a horse cooler to remove excess moisture before blanketing. A good cooler will keep your horse warm while removing moisture. Wool is the perfect material for retaining heat while removing moisture.
A few features that differentiates our cooler:
- Nylon browband and tail cord
- Dual side-release, adjustable buckles for the neck (you can also fold the neck back)
- Neckline is tapered with rounded corners
- Material used is flame resistant, antimicrobial by nature, moisture-wicking and breathable
- Dry clean and machine wash safe with wool detergent
The Custom Wool Cooler Manufacturing Process
The wool for these wool horse coolers is sourced from the Woolrich company, the longest continuously running wool fabric producing mill in the USA. The mill is located in Woorich, Pennsylvania. It’s been there since 1845. The 15 yard “bolts” of wool material are shipped 259 miles north east to our sewing company in upstate New York. When you purchase a custom wool cooler, your order begins the process of cutting, sewing and shipping the final product.
