EcoGold Stabilizer Memory Foam Half Pad

The Ecogold memory foam half pad features two layers of material: The base is a 100% breathable memory foam that absorbs shock and moves impact laterally, protecting the horse’s back. The second layer, under your saddle is covered in a non-slip material, similar to the Ecogold XC pad. The EcoGold Stabilizer falls fashionably in line with most popular half pads these days, featuring a synthetic fleece roll lining all edges except where your saddle’s panels will fall.

Memory Foam

This particular memory foam half pad incorporates tried-and-tested textiles and technology to address some of the most common concerns and problems even top riders face. We all know that a horse with a sore back won’t or can’t perform at his peak. Pressure points from the saddle or other tack and even the impact of a rider’s weight can make any horse uncomfortable. EcoGold uses breathable memory foam in this half pad to help diminish or even eliminate these potential issues. This material absorbs shock, such as after a jump, and moves impact laterally instead of straight down onto the back. It also conforms to the shape of a horse’s back, helping to fill in any gaps as well as cushion areas where pressure points may occur.

Breathable

Using breathable products on our horses has only been increasing in popularity and priority. More tests and studies continue to prove the importance of this feature for horse health. Just like any human athlete, when your horse uses his muscles it generates heat. This heat needs somewhere to go so that the horse’s body temperature does not rise to an unsafe level. The natural way heat dissipates is through sweating, and as that sweat evaporates it cools down the body. Enter the importance of a half pad that is breathable! EcoGold’s Stabilizer Memory Foam Half Pad is made of 100% breathable memory foam, helping your horse’s back to stay as cool and dry as possible. Many other brands promoting shock absorption incorporate the material neoprene, which doesn’t breathe at all. In fact, it is waterproof (so will keep all your horse’s sweat trapped underneath)!

Non-Slip

Finally, probably the most prominent feature of this particular pad – the Stabilizer Memory Foam Half Pad, is the non-slip surface. Adding a half pad on top of your cotton pad can be somewhat notorious for decreasing the stability of your saddle. This is simply due to an increased number of layers for possible shifting. Many riders use special girths and/or add a breast plate to help prevent saddle slippage. Even with this additional “help”, the saddle may still move and put pressure on the other tack. The Stabilizer Memory Foam Half Pad aims to not put any additional load on the breast plate and/or girth, helping the saddle stay in place simply by the nature of its non-slip “grippy” surface. This property will remain after many washes, you can wash any EcoGold pad as often as you feel is necessary.
